Per AISD policy, all students in AISD begin on the Distinguished + Endorsement plan. This means all students will complete the requirements for at least one endorsement in addition to the foundation requirements.
Students must complete the following credits to meet the Foundation requirements of the Distinguished Level of Achievement Plan:
English - 4 credits* World Language - 2 credits*** Electives - 5.5 credits
Math - 4 credits Fine Arts - 1 credit
Science - 4 credits Physical Education - 1 credit
Social Studies - 4 credits** Health - 0.5 credits
Although there are other plans and other courses that satisfy the graduation requirements, the ones listed on these pages are the ones that are currently taught at Anderson and/or are scheduled to be taught in the next 2-3 years.
*AHS students are required to take English IV.
**Although the state requirement is 3 credits in Social Studies, AHS is requiring all students to take 4 years.
***The Anderson High School Vertical Team is focused on World Languages. Therefore, all students are encouraged to complete at least 1 year of a language other than English while in high school. Students who take levels 1 & 2 in middle school are encouraged to either take level 3 as a 9th grader or to take level 1 of a new language. Knowing another language benefits students in many ways including:

Knowing another language benefits students in many ways including:
- Students who take advanced courses in language during high school can test out of language requirements in college.
- Knowing another language is helpful in the workplace.
- Some colleges prefer for students to have 3 years of a language.
- 4 years of a language are required for any student who plans to graduate with an IB diploma.
- Since students can receive weighted credit for level 3 and beyond of a language and since GPA ranking is based on four years of core classes and two years of a world language, students who take advanced languages and who do well in them have a GPA advantage over students who do not.

Since Anderson students take 8 classes each semester, they will end up with more credits than what is required.
Seniors who have completed their course requirements may have up to 2 off periods each semester. |
Please note: This, along with all of the plans on this website, are SAMPLE plans. Subjects that are not required all four years can be taken at any time during the four years. So, for example, students can wait to take their fine arts credit until a later year and instead take PE or Health or another elective their freshman year. However, it is generally advised that students take the courses that are required for graduation (such as PE, Health, Fine Arts, and World Languages) early in their high school career in order to leave their later years open to focus on courses they are really interested in. Students with questions about courses and the order in which to take them are encouraged to visit with their counselor. (click here for counselor contact information)
Students must also complete the credits to meet the requirements for at least one endorsement. Courses taken toward an endorsement can count as both the requirement for the endorsement and a core or elective requirement.
