What is the difference between the Foundation Plan and the Distinguished Plan?
Students on the Distinguished Plan must take Algebra II. All students in AISD begin on the Distinguished Plan.

When must a student choose an endorsement?

Can a student switch from one endorsement to another?
Yes. A student may choose to earn an endorsement other than the endorsement that student previously indicated from among the available endorsements.

Yes. Students are allowed to enroll in courses under more than one endorsement before the student's junior year.

Is it possible to graduate without an endorsement?
Yes. A student may opt to graduate Foundation High School Program only without an endorsement if, after the student's sophomore year the student and the student's parent or guardian are advised by a school counselor of the specific benefits of graduating from high school with one or more endorsements and the student's parent or guardian files with a school counselor written permission, on a form adopted by the TEA , allowing the student to graduate under the Foundation High School Program without earning an endorsement.

Students are able to earn Performance Acknowledgements for outstanding performance
• In a dual credit course
• In bilingualism and biliteracy
• On an AP test or IB exam
• On the PSAT, the ACT-Plan, the SAT, or the ACT
– Or for earning a nationally or internationally recognized business or industry certification or license

Why is Anderson requiring more than the state/district requirements?
We want to make sure all students are prepared to continue their education after high school. Courses such as English IV, W Geography/W History, and Algebra II prepare students to enter postsecondary training and/or for life.

How does IB diploma work with the Foundation+Endorsement plan?
Students who are working toward an IB diploma are going to earn the Multidisciplinary Endorsement and the Arts & Humanities Endorsement (World Language Pathway) because the requirements for the IB diploma cover the requirements for these two endorsement areas. IB diploma students are also able to earn other endorsements based on their other course choices.
